Q: Who are we?
A: We are a family owned music studio, 5 locations in total including: Fort Sask Music Academy, Beaumont Music Academy, Cochrane Music Academy, Notable Music Academy Calgary & Chestermere Music Academy are the same company and offer high quality lessons to all ages and levels
We are family owned and operated with over 20 years experience, 26 teachers and serving over 600+ amazing students of all ages.

Q: Where are lessons held?
A: In-studio lesson are located at:
- Fort Saskatchewan location (#B5, 10211 100 Ave)
- Beaumont location (#201 - 5302 50 St)
- Cochrane location (131 2nd ave east)
- Calgary location (4039 Brentwood Road NW)
- Chestermere location (201 West Chestermere Drive)
Q: Is there an age restriction
A: We only accept students age 5+, we teach children, teens, adults and seniors!
Q: Is your location a home or business front?
A: We operate out of a business front (not out of a residential home)
Q: Can you teach lessons from my home?
A: No, we only teach lessons from our business studio at this time.
Q: How do Private Lessons Work?
A: Private lessons are 1:1 with the same teacher, day and time each week and is a great way to start for beginners to advanced with our Academy for ages 5+
Q: I'm not sure if my child (or me) wants to focus on just one instrument or 2-3, do we have options to solve this problem?
A: Many of our teachers teach multiple instruments, for example if your teacher can teach multiple instruments you can break a lesson up however the teacher feels it will work best and or alternate instruments each week.
Q: Do you offer Group Lessons?
A: If you're looking for a group lesson for 3-5 members in your family we may have options for you, please speak with a team member for more details
Q: How much practice is required during the week?
A: Adults typically practice between 20-40mins+ every day or second day
A: Children typically practice their age x 2 each day or every second day. For example, 6 year old would practice 12mins, 10 year old 20mins etc.
Q: Are lessons in person or online?
A: 100% of lessons are In person with the option for online as backup
Q:How does billing work?
A: Your card (credit or debit) will be auto charged the 1st day of the month for the number of lessons in that month. If you start half way through a month, your first charge the day of sign up and is pro-rated, then the regular billing cycle start the 1st day of the following month.
Q: What happens on statuary holidays?
A: Our studio is closed and you are not billed for that lesson
Q: If we miss a lesson what are my options?
A: More then 48 hours notice you receive a makeup lesson that you can use anytime with any available teacher up to 45 days from date issued with an active subscription (private lessons only)
A: Less then 48 hours notice, you can request a video lesson, zoom lesson, or someone from your home can attend the lesson at no extra charge (private lessons only)
*Makeup credits auto expire 60 days after issued. Unlimited credits are available as long as you're using them up along the way.
These options are available for private lessons only (not group lessons)
Group lessons are treated differently, if a lesson is missed the lesson is forfeited.
Q: What if I'm away for an extended period of time (example 4+ weeks)?
A: Most students opt to cancel the future lessons for makeup lessons and use them up before and after the extended time away.
A: In some cases we can place a hold on your membership
A: If it's a number of months you're away, you would just give 30 days notice and our Academy can cancel your membership and then re-enrol you on your return
Q: If I need to cancel or change my subscription or need to change my ongoing time or teacher how much notice is required?
A: Only 30 days notice is required
Q: Is there anyway to test or trial a lesson before I commit to weekly lessons?
A: Our experience is it takes 3-4 lessons before the student and teacher really know if the fit is right.
We always have the option to move you to another teacher if need be. If lessons where the wrong decision and aren't a good fit then of course we won't hold you our 30 day notice to cancel. We want to ensure both the student and teacher are enjoying themselves.
Q: My child has high anxiety and needs extra care during lessons
A: This is very typical and it's important to know that we'll do the best we can to match your child with the right teacher, in this case we recommend you don't self enrol, but rather click the button below to enrol with the help of our staff or text us directly. Parents are allowed to sit in with their child during all lessons to help reduce stress, this along with the correct teacher match who understands your child is a formula for your child's success.
Q: What ages do you accept for lessons
A: Private lessons 5 years and up, Group lessons 7 years and up
For ages 5+ we recommend piano lessons & drum lessons
For ages 7+ we recommend piano or guitar
Q: Do I need my own instrument at home?
A: We have guitars and pianos/keyboards/drums at the studio for use during your lesson. We suggest you speak with your teacher for recommendations at your first lesson before you purchase anything for home use. We also recommend renting instruments for the first month before purchasing to be sure it's the right long term investment.
Q: What curriculum do you teach?
A: We like to customize our private lessons to each student based on what keep them motivated and involved.
We do also offer RCM and Exam Prep Level
Q: What lesson books should I purchase?
A: Nothing for your first lesson, if you're working on something bring it with you, otherwise our teacher will provide options at your first lesson
Q: Can I sit in on my Childs lesson?
A: Yes at anytime
Q: Who are your teachers?
A: We have a team of highly qualified, skilled and professional teachers who specialize in working with all ages and levels
Q:Have your teachers all had police background checks?
A: Yes, safety is our #1 priority.
We also have windows in the doors of all of our studios for added peace of mind and parents can sit in on all lessons
Q: Do you have a waiting room & free parking onsite?
A: Yes
Q: How am I updated on lessons & learning progress?
A: Through our student portal where teachers leave you update lesson notes
Q: Do you host recitals?
A: Yes we hold recitals 2-3 times per year, there is no fee for students to participate
